READ/San Diego at the Fallbrook Library
READ/San Diego is a FREE literacy, English as a Second Language and family literacy instruction service provided by the San Deigo Public Library for adults 18 years of age and older. It is one of more than 100 literacy programs offered by public libraries throughout California.

READ/San Diego is staffed by literacy professionals who coordinate the efforts of Volunteer reading tutors and cooperate with local adult schools, community colleges and other literacy education providers in making and receiving student referrals.

Tutors receive comprehensive training, including intensive training in learning disabilities, generally meet with their student twice a week for a total of three hours at one of the City Libraries or a mutually convenient public facility such as a church, business office or community center. Tutors are supported with training resources provided by the City of San Diego.

WHAT CAN YOU DO? *Contribute funds that will enhance ongoing literacy efforts. *Volunteer as a tutor or volunteer to assist with other program operations. *Offer in-kind services such as video production, graphic design, printing or copying. *Donate used books, office supplies or computer software for the computer lab.
